GD 112 ~ Yanfeng

Dear Josie and Douglas

Hi! I'm overjoyed to be able to send you this letter. Do you still remember me? I guess that after all this time, you would still remember me, right?

Time flew and before I knew it, I'm a senior already. Now I understand the stresses, but also the thrill of life in 12th grade. I must admit, the system of education here is still a work in progress. It has some imperfections. It is fair to say that most of us struggle to keep our heads above water. However, at this stage, we are striving to do well in school, because it directly affects our futures. The classes here are really strenuous. Every day, I have a massive amount of homework assignments and exercises to do. Sometimes, I get really anxious and worried about my grades; I worry that they won't be as good as I hope. During these moments, I think about my family, friends and even you to cheer myself up. It gives me the drive I need to try even harder in school. At school, I get along well with everyone and it makes me happy.

During the summer holidays, I really don't have much to do, so I go to my uncle's house to help him with daily life. Sometimes we go to plant fruit seeds, sometimes, we go to patch up the old barn, sometimes we collect firewood, and so on. Occasionally during the holiday, I go my friend's house to play and chat and I always have a good time. My family has always been known for their harvests, especially the sugar canes and fruits. One day if you get a chance to visit, be sure to try some of them!

Let me tell you an interesting story. One summer, my younger sister and I were gathering firewood, and we came upon a bird's nest. My sister wanted to bring the nest down to take some eggs, but none of us were tall enough! Then, my sister suggested that she stand on my shoulders to reach the nest. It was working fine until she suddenly dropped the nest on my head, and the eggs all broke all over me! We couldn't stop laughing about it afterward. This was the first time we brave enough to try such a thing, and for this reason it's firmly imprinted in my memory.

One thing I really want to do someday is go to the city and meet other people from different areas of the country, even though I have not had the opportunity yet. However, one day I will be able to realize this dream.

In conclusion, thank you so much for giving me a chance at an education. I wish you good health and a happy life.
